A Special Call to Hyde Park, Roslindale, & Mattapan to Protect Millions of $$$ for Housing and Youth

In the below petition, you will see more info about the $9 million that Michelle Wu has cut from the City Council’s budget for priorities including housing and youth jobs. TEN COUNCILORS, including Enrique Pepén, voted for this budget. It was a product of careful deliberation, including naming key investments and analyzing where the Mayor’s proposed budget increases were too high. And it included community priorities in ways that a Mayor-centric budget process does not.

Pepén was one of ten Councilors who voted for the budget, but now we need nine Councilors to override the Mayor’s veto. Seven Councilors have named publicly they want to restore the investments, but Pepén has not yet. As he knows, this is part of the shared budgeting powers the City Council has in a system of checks on balances on the Mayor — the Council has the legitimate power to put forward where they want to put money. It is critical that we get emails and calls to Pepén. We are especially trying to get calls Tu 6/18 and Th 6/20.

Pepén’s district includes Hyde Park, Roslindale, and parts of Mattapan (including parts near Mattapan Square). You can use this tool to see if you live in his district:.

Please help fill out the petition below and spread the word to 3-5 people you know in Roslindale, Hyde Park, and Mattapan. One question in the petition asks for names (first name and initial of last name), but we will not ask for the people’s contact info — we are keeping track of the names so we can let you know if they reached Pepén!
